Wireless WAN
TSR's Wireless Solutions offers flexibility, reliability,
and interoperability with existing networks. We offer ease of installation
and hassle-free operation. Our wide area networks (WWAN) can be
an ideal solution for wide-area network extensions, remote access,
and interconnect applications. A Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN)
from TSR can help you save thousands in recurring expenses! Read
on to find out how else wireless can benefit you.
Cost
A typical WAN is most often used to connect computer
networks in multiple locations. Most often this is done by means
of a point-to-point T1 circuit purchased through the local telco
company. This can often take 3-6 weeks to install, has a hefty installation
fee, and will have a recurring monthly charge of $300-$500.
You will also need the proper equipment in each office to collect
and send the data to the other end of the circuit, which will cost
about $3000. You can tack on a little more if you don't have anyone
in house to configure the equipment. For all this, you get 1.5Mbps
of data transfer.
TSR has a better idea. We can create a point-to-point Wireless link between the two locations. The locations should have line of site to one another, but can be many miles apart. Small antenna towers can easily be constructed should line of site be an issue. This option will take days to implement, will give you up to 11Mbps of data transfer, and will have absolutely no recurring monthly charges!
Reliability
We understand the common concern for reliability. More often
than not, a properly installed wireless link is actually more stable
than a T1 circuit. The wireless equipment that TSR will provide
is virtually immune to all but the most extreme weather conditions.
Heavy rains, thick fog, and even the toughest Wisconsin snowstorms
have only the slightest effect on the radio signals.
Security
Security is a common concern when it comes to
wireless data communications. Unfortunately, many people still believe
that a wired WAN is secure just because it is wired. Not true. By
Federal law, all telephone junction boxes must be publicly accessible,
and you usually need just a socket wrench to open them. All data
traveling over dial-up, DSL, or even T1 circuits (all commonly used
for WANs) is easily sniffed by a hacker with a laptop and some specialized,
but not so expensive, hardware. Yes, it is true that wireless technologies
are not 100% secure. However, they can be just as secure
as the alternatives with TSR. TSR can encrypt your data links and
offers a number of security options including 128-bit encryption
and spread spectrum radios. This keeps your data locked up tight
as it travels between your two locations, which is much more than
your basic T1 link will do.
